| Optima: re-enabling mobile commerce |
|
|
Introduction   Optima specializes in the development and operation of interactive mobile services enabling business' long-awaited channels to market and hoping to improve customer communications, loyalty and profitability. Its products and services focus on secure mobile transactions, delivering content and promotions, specifically in the mobile banking, top-up, mapping and chat segments, for now.
Scope   Strategic Analysis: Offering, Technology & Management.   Detailed product analysis: mobile banking and mobile top-up provided by financial service companies   Competitive assessment of optima: strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.   Highlights   Datamonitor believes that Optima would improve its reach and market presence by developing a better alliance partner strategy, but this is difficult in a predictive market segment. If some significant customers are won, a further difficulty will be in balancing a renewed focus on R&D and execution with maintaining the current direct sales effort.
Datamonitor believes that Optima is relatively well placed, if it can execute its sales and marketing plan over the next 18 to 24 months. While products are not differentiated in concept, a simple and common platform should win out over slightly more sophisticated but at the same time overly complex solutions. Much will come down to price.
Reasons to Purchase   Find out how Optima differentiates its technology in light of SMS, WAP, Java (J2ME) and Symbian-developed solutions   Read Datamonitor's views on Optima's strategy for addressing the mobile banking market.   Discover what partnerships Optima has struck to help meet future challenges.
