| Property Investment in Europe 2005 |
|
|
Introduction
Datamonitor's Property Investments in Europe 2005 report presents views on the   market for property investment based on a survey of 96 leading asset managers   across Europe. The report, which covers mass market, high net worth and institutional   customer groups, forms part of a series looking at the market for alternative   investments in Europe.
Scope
Datamonitor's Property Investments in Europe 2005 report draws on an extensive   B2B study to offer a unique perspective on property investments
Datamonitor's European Alternative Investments Survey 2005 canvassed opinion   of 96 asset managers on the key issues facing the market
Customer segments covered include mass market, high net worth and institutional   clients; countries studied are France, UK, Germany, Italy and Spain
Issues discussed include distribution, future expectations, key success factors,   barriers to growth and attitudes towards new investment vehicles
Report Highlights
Of the countries studied, only France currently has a real estate investment   trust (REIT) market, yet one in two of European asset managers think REITs have   the potential to rival corporate bond funds. To this end, almost two thirds   of asset managers are unhappy with the efforts of their regulators to establish   a REIT market in their jurisdiction.
Across Europe, asset managers are agreed that demand for property investment   will increase for all customer groups. Strong expected demand from institutional   clients in Spain and UK contrasts markedly with distinctly less optimistic expectations   for mass market demand in Germany.
European asset managers consider having a strong history of past performance   as the most important element of their proposition. One quarter of responses   further pointed to the need for a strong brand. These two factors are deemed   significantly more important than a range of other attributes.
Reasons to Purchase
Gain a unique picture of the market for property investments in Europe based   on the views of Europe's premier asset managers
Understand the key success factors required to succeed in the market for property   investments
Assess the potential for future growth in specific country/customer pairings   based on the views of local asset managers themselves
