The development of Bluetooth products experienced a big setback from the intense attention in market at the beginning to market slump afterwards. Along with the issuance of the latest standard in 2003 and 2004, Bluetooth products met its second increasing period.
In 2004, the shipment of Bluetooth chip had reached 115 million slices, increased by 92.3% compared to that of 2003. According to In-Stat, the shipment of Bluetooth chip will reach 316 million slices in 2005 and 866 million slices by 2009.
The development of chip is closely related to the development of product application. Bluetooth can be widely applied to the fields of wireless equipment, image processing equipment, security product, consumption entertainment, automotive product, household appliance, construction, toy, etc. Mobile phone is the major application field, of course.
In the future, Bluetooth will enter 17 different markets. In 2005, the Bluetooth equipments applied to handsets will take less than 47% in all the Bluetooth equipments, decreased obviously compared to the 65% of 2002.
At present, the main products of domestic Bluetooth manufactures are still Bluetooth earphone, Bluetooth adapter and car Bluetooth, etc. The main Bluetooth chips are CSR and Broadcom; Japanese manufacturers such as Kyocera, Murata are the important manufacturers of handset Bluetooth RF module.
The development of Bluetooth product also promotes development of related testing equipment. For instance, companies like IVT, OI, Agilent and Anritsu all developed relevant testing equipment aiming at Bluetooth product.
The development of Bluetooth in the future will own the characteristics of low price, miniaturization, compatibility, roaming, etc.
