The compliance agenda - meeting the demands on business of legislation, regulation and adoptions of standards, is a bigger challenge now than ever.
Corporate failures and fraud, from Enron to Shell, from WorldCom to Nortel, have demonstrated the requirement for legislation and regulation and governments worldwide will be placing companies under increasing scrutiny.
There is no single IT solution that can meet this demand. A combination of technologies will be required, including the use of existing systems. They do however need to be brought together in a framework, which aligns the Information/IT strategy to that of the organisation itself and looks to the long term goal of reducing the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of systems and services.
The report details the types of technologies that should be deployed by organisations to address their identified priorities, identifying how a technologies addressing organisational operational pain points, can also meet compliance needs. It also highlights the need for close working across directorates, for example Human Resources to ensure that the culture of the organisation is also aligned with the compliance and business improvement agenda.
The report provides illustrative case studies of successful deployments of technologies and adoption of a positive approach to compliance.
There are few medals for compliance, but a lot of pain if the objectives are missed. The CIO/CTO needs to grasp the opportunities provided by the compliance agenda. This report, along with its companion Information Legislation and Regulation, written in conjunction with Walker Morris solicitors, provides support and guidance in grasping those opportunities.
This Report reveals: The impact of legislation and regulation on Information Systems. The technology solutions available to support the demands of compliance. Why Information Management, Security and Analysis are the foundations of effective compliance. The roadmap and priorities for a successful compliance programme. The opportunities that the compliance agenda presents for IT Management. Why achieving cCompliance represents a real business benefit.
