| The adoption of SOA among US and Western European enterprises (Customer Focus) |
|
|
Introduction Service Orientated Architecture (SOA) has become one of the latest years buzzwords propagated by the IT industry. Most enterprises now have heard of SOA - but how are they responding to it? A recent survey of 90 end users in the US and in Western Europe (UK, France and Germany) conducted by Datamonitor provides clarity to enterprises reaction to SOA.
Scope Describes the propensity of enterprises to adopt SOA across size bands, vertical markets and regions and explains differences in adoption rates. Outlines the concerns enterprises have when considering implementing SOA and gives recommendations to vendors on how to address these concerns. Looks at enterprises' views on the cost savings relating to SOA their perspectives on long-term return on investment. Analyzes the impact the adoption of SOA has on enterprises' spending with software and IT services vendors. Highlights SOA adoption is dominated by large organizations that tend to have a greater need for integrating applications and services across their businesses. Large enterprises are also more often challenged with unforeseen and changing dynamics created by M&A activity, new partnerships, expansion, and new customer requirements.
Security is a prominent reason for enterprises not adopting SOA. For many end users the idea of having their applications exposed as services on the web signals increased vulnerability. They fear that the flexibility of SOA may come with the expense of reduced security.
Although enterprises see their overall IT spending decreasing as a result of adopting SOA, they expect their spending with software and IT services partners to increase.
Reasons to Purchase Through valuable end user data, learn about enterprises' perception of SOA and the reasons behind varying SOA adoption rates by type of enterprise. Improve your go-to-market approach through a better understanding of enterprises' concerns in relation to SOA adoption. Gain insight into how enterprises expect SOA adoption to influence their spending on software and IT services
