Industry Definition
The Paperboard Container Manufacturing Industry comprises establishments primarily engaged in converting paperboard into containers without manufacturing paperboard. The industry purchases paper, paperboard and old corrugated containers (OCC) from mills and converts them into paperboard containers, which are used to house a range of consumer manufactures - from food and beverage to car engines and footwear. The containers are mass-produced and sold to producers of such consumer and industrial goods. The containers made range from corrugated and solid fiber boxes through to folding paperboard boxes, non-folding sanitary food containers and other similar paperboard packaging. Other products made by these establishments include corrugated sheets, pads, and pallets; paper dishes; and fiber drums and reels.
