|
|
Outsourced testing has caught on like wildfire. There are many good reasons why it appeals, but relatively little hard evidence that it delivers. Cost is by far the biggest driver, which dictates that a large chunk of the activity goes offshore. The offshore testing market is growing so fast that the growth itself will limit the service providers’ capacity to deliver. Whether performed offshore, near-shore or onshore, test outsourcing does not deliver benefits effortlessly. There are serious misapprehensions about the suitability of testing for outsourcing and the risks involved. Halfway through this boom, customers need to be careful not to follow the crowd unthinkingly and assume they are in for an easy win.
