 Household Appliances in China

This study analyzes the Chinese market for major household appliances, also referred to as “white goods.” Products covered are cooking appliances (cooktops and other conventional cooking devices, microwave ovens, and range hoods), refrigerators and freezers, clothes washers and dryers, and dish sterilizers and dishwashers. Excluded from the scope of the study are such products as vacuum cleaners, air conditioners and other items generally referred to as “brown goods,” as well as commercial appliances and smaller household appliances in general. However, because of the widely varying types of basic cooking appliances used in China, the “cooktops and other conventional cooking devices” segment is here defined to include such items as gas and electric cookers, hobs and other general-purpose cooking devices, but exclude specialty and/or smaller items such as rice cookers, grills, toasters, toaster ovens and the like.
