After the IT-boom
driven by theY2K-issue, the Euro-conversion and the e-Business-hype is over,
the growth margins in the German SITS market have come down to a very low level.
The sector that in 2002 was among those industries to deliver the highest growth
rates as to the expenditure for Software and IT Services was the public sector.
This is due to the fact that the budget for IT expenditures is relatively stable.
And in these economically weak times, there is a high need for cost reduction
in the public administration, health care system and the German Federal Armed
Forces. One way to reduce costs is to optimise the IT-systems and applications
and to make them work more efficiently. Regarding the investments in the public
sector, Germany lags far behind other European countries, particularly as far
as outsourcing is concerned.
PAC Germany now analyses the public sector according to the following three
segmentations: Software and IT Services, Industries (Social Services, Administration,
Defence) and several Application Segments.
The report “Public Sector 2003 Germany” includes 15 company profiles
