Industry Market Research Synopsis

Industry Definition

The Automobile Repair Services Industry in China (China Industry Code - 3726) comprises establishments primarily engaged in providing mechanical or electrical repair services for automobiles, to provide maintenance services, and eliminate existing or potential technical malfunctions. Establishments that provide automobile repairing services in China are classified into three categories: - Primary enterprises: repair facilities or enterprises that can provide overhauling or assembly repairing services for automobiles. These can also provide general maintenance and specialized repairing services and must have equipment to 'test on completion'. 4S Stores (4S stands for sales, spare parts, service and survey) established by automobile manufacturers also belong to this category. - Secondary units: units that can provide the same services as primary enterprises, but do not necessarily have equipment to 'test on completion'. Also, the size of secondary units is generally smaller than primary enterprises. - Tertiary units: the small-sized units that mainly provide specialized repairing and maintenance services such as car detailing, replacing tires, automobile paintwork. These firms can also repair certain assemblies, such as engines and gear boxes. These units are also called 'Roadside Shops'. This industry mainly refers to the primary enterprises, and excludes secondary and tertiary units.
