Industry Definition

The Mobile Communications Equipment and Terminal Equipment Manufacturing Industry in China (China Industry Code - 4014) is comprised of establishments involved in the manufacturing and sales of mobile communication terminal equipment, including wireless phone apparatus (mobile phones), such as GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) and CDMA (Code-Division Multiple Access) handsets, cellular base stations, handset accessories and other mobile communication terminal equipment including hands-free mobile kits, two-way radios and pagers.GSM is one of the leading digital cellular systems. GSM uses narrowband TDMA, which allows eight simultaneous calls on the same radio frequency.CDMA is a digital wireless technology. It is a general type of technology, implemented in many specific technologies. However, the term 'CDMA' is also commonly used to refer to one specific family of technologies (e.g. IS-95 and CDMA2000) that competes with technologies such as GSM. CDMA is a 'spread spectrum' technology, which means that it spreads the information contained in a particular signal of interest over a much greater bandwidth than the original signal.
