Introduction

Alexion Pharmaceuticals (Alexion) is a biotechnology company engaged in the discovery and development of therapeutic products for the treatment of hematological diseases, cancer, and autoimmune disorders. The company started marketing Soliris in the US in March 2007 for the treatment of patients with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) to reduce hemolysis.
