IBISWORLD INDUSTRY MARKET RESEARCH REPORT

This is the replacement for IBISWorld's November 2006 edition of Fish & Seafood Aquaculture in the US report.

Industry Market Research Synopsis

This Industry Market Research report from IBISWorld provides a detailed analysis of the Fish & Seafood Aquaculture in the US industry, including key growth trends, statistics, forecasts, the competitive environment including market shares and the key issues facing the industry.

Industry Definition

The US Fish & Seafood Aquaculture industry catches and breeds fish and seafood species, which are then held in fish farms for the purpose of breeding stock. The industry purchases feed from animal food manufacturers as well as buying a range of other equipment needed to operate a fish farm. When the fish and non-fish species have grown to maturity they are sold to seafood processors, fish wholesalers, retail fish markets, consumers, pet food manufacturers and sometimes live fish are sold to other fish farms as broodstock. This industry comprises establishments primarily engaged in the farm raising and harvesting of finfish, shellfish, or any other kind of animal aquaculture. These establishments use some form of intervention in the rearing process to enhance production, such as holding in captivity, regular stocking, feeding, and protecting from predators. It does not include the sale of fish caught in wild fisheries.
