Based on in-factory tours China is home to over 500 manufacturers responsible for producing more than half of the world's supply of AV cables and assemblies.
Despite cost increases in raw materials, the industry is moving full-steam ahead with makers ramping up their production efficiency and expanding their capability to produce advanced digital interface models.
Secure your supply of quality AV cables and assemblies from the world's leading manufacturing hub. Your very own copy of this report will help you: • Determine which makers are adopting the HDMI standard in replacement of the standard AV interface • Find out which vendors are enhancing efficiency to offer you better value • Discover which suppliers serve the world's leading brands such as Sony, Nokia, NEC and Philips.
With profiles of 29 suppliers, 94 products and a comprehensive overview of China's AV cables and assemblies market, this report will answer all these questions... and MORE.
China's exports of AV cables and assemblies and related products were valued at US$1.11 billion in 2007, a 65 percent increase over 2006, according to China customs statistics. With a supplier base of more than 500 makers, China is estimated to supply over 80 percent of low-end and midrange AV cables and assemblies worldwide. However, the country produces only 3.75 percent of high-end AV cables and assemblies globally.
In 2008, China's AV cables and assemblies output is forecast to reach 5.75 billion units. The figure is up from 5 billion units in 2007 and is estimated to account for about 60 percent of global supply.
China makers export the bulk of their output, with OEM and ODM clients absorbing most of the shipments. OBM products take up only a small portion of exports primarily due to little recognition overseas for Chinese brands in this product line.
China manufacturers have been experiencing steady growth over the past few years. However, the continued increase in raw material cost and competition from advanced digital interface, such as HDMI, are posing a challenge to makers.
Consequently, more manufacturers are raising their export quotes as one way to offset the cost increases. More suppliers are also expanding their product lines to include HDMI cables and assemblies, which are expected to gradually replace standard AV interfaces.
The following are some of the key trends that we see in China's AV cable and assembly industry: • Output and exports of AV cables and assemblies are expected to grow between 15 percent and 20 percent through 2010. • Export quotes are likely go up by 5 to 15 percent in 2008. The main reason behind the increase is the continued escalation of copper and PE prices. • Most makers will maintain the still profitable AV cables and assemblies in their product portfolio, even though some suppliers have shifted their attention to HDMI cables, which offer better margins. • North America, Europe and Asia will continue to be the most important target markets of China suppliers. • As a mature product line, product development will continue to center on improving cosmetic design, signal attenuation, precision molding and durability
